{"id":3026,"date":"2018-01-07T14:04:40","date_gmt":"2018-01-07T13:04:40","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/petitchefpanda.com\/?p=3026"},"modified":"2018-01-14T11:07:37","modified_gmt":"2018-01-14T10:07:37","slug":"easy-recipe-panda-king-galette","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/petitchefpanda.com\/en\/easy-recipe-panda-king-galette\/","title":{"rendered":"EASY RECIPE &#8220;PANDA KING GALETTE&#8221;"},"content":{"rendered":"<h2>Hi everyone,<\/h2>\n<p>I&#8217;m pleased to be back with you to share a real treat, an easy recipe for an irresistible &#8220;galette des Rois&#8221; (Three Kings cake).<\/p>\n<p>Like chocolate at Easter, the galette des Rois is an unmissable seasonal gourmet tradition that we asbolutely love.<\/p>\n<p>This cake is eaten as a dessert during the month of January, from 7th January\u00a0onwards.<\/p>\n<h3>So, aprons on!<\/h3>\n<p>But before starting, I also wanted to wish you all a happy new year with lots of happiness, a hint of craziness and a touch of success, all well mixed with love and friendship.<\/p>\n<p><img class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-3019\" src=\"https:\/\/petitchefpanda.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/01\/galette-fille.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"700\" height=\"467\" srcset=\"https:\/\/petitchefpanda.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/01\/galette-fille-120x80.jpg 120w, https:\/\/petitchefpanda.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/01\/galette-fille-200x133.jpg 200w, https:\/\/petitchefpanda.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/01\/galette-fille-300x200.jpg 300w, https:\/\/petitchefpanda.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/01\/galette-fille-400x267.jpg 400w, https:\/\/petitchefpanda.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/01\/galette-fille-500x334.jpg 500w, https:\/\/petitchefpanda.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/01\/galette-fille-600x400.jpg 600w, https:\/\/petitchefpanda.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/01\/galette-fille.jpg 700w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 700px) 100vw, 700px\" \/><\/p>\n<h3>RECIPE: &#8220;MY PANDA KING GALETTE&#8221; for 8 people, although for me personally it&#8217;s so good that it only serves 6!<\/h3>\n<h3>INGREDIENTS:<\/h3>\n<ul>\n<li>2 packs ready-made puff pastry, to keep things simple.<\/li>\n<li>125 g caster sugar<\/li>\n<li>125 g butter, softened<\/li>\n<li>125 g ground almonds<\/li>\n<li>2 eggs<\/li>\n<li>1 egg yolk<\/li>\n<li>1 organic lemon or a vanilla pod<\/li>\n<li>1 pinch of salt<\/li>\n<li>1 f\u00e8ve (pudding token) to designate the king or queen of the day.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Preparation time (20 minutes)<\/p>\n<p>COOKING TIME: 40 minutes (keep a close watch on it!)<\/p>\n<p>First, as in any recipe that needs to go in the oven, preheat the oven to 200\u00b0 C (gas 7).<\/p>\n<p>You must remove the 2 packs of puff pastry from the fridge. BEWARE: the pastry needs to be at room temperature so you can roll it out or move it around easily.<\/p>\n<p>1- Start by beating the well-softened butter with the sugar and salt. Make sure your mixture is smooth, slightly fluffy.<\/p>\n<p>2- Add the 2 eggs with the zest of the lemon or the vanilla pod.<\/p>\n<p>3- Add the almond powder and mix well.<\/p>\n<p>4- Unroll the first pack of pastry and place it in your cake tin, retaining the baking sheet.<\/p>\n<p>5- Pour your &#8220;gourmet&#8221; mixture into the tin and spread it evenly over the pastry.<\/p>\n<p>6- Add the f\u00e8ve. (If you don&#8217;t have one from previous years, ask your baker).<\/p>\n<p>7- Cover the whole thing with the second piece of puff pastry and use your fingers to seal the two pieces of pastry like a hem.<\/p>\n<p>8- Brush the entire surface of your cake with the egg yolk;<\/p>\n<p>9- And finally, use a knife to draw patterns on the cake and especially, pierce the pastry with the tip of your knife so it doesn&#8217;t puff up too much.<\/p>\n<p><img class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-3022\" src=\"https:\/\/petitchefpanda.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/01\/galette-f\u00e8ve.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"700\" height=\"467\" srcset=\"https:\/\/petitchefpanda.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/01\/galette-f\u00e8ve-120x80.jpg 120w, https:\/\/petitchefpanda.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/01\/galette-f\u00e8ve-200x133.jpg 200w, https:\/\/petitchefpanda.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/01\/galette-f\u00e8ve-300x200.jpg 300w, https:\/\/petitchefpanda.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/01\/galette-f\u00e8ve-400x267.jpg 400w, https:\/\/petitchefpanda.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/01\/galette-f\u00e8ve-500x334.jpg 500w, https:\/\/petitchefpanda.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/01\/galette-f\u00e8ve-600x400.jpg 600w, https:\/\/petitchefpanda.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/01\/galette-f\u00e8ve.jpg 700w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 700px) 100vw, 700px\" \/><\/p>\n<h3>The origin of the galette des Rois:<\/h3>\n<p>It is said that the galette des Rois originated in Roman festivals celebrating the god Saturn and the sun, when anyone could be designated\u00a0 king for a day and have the chance to do whatever they liked. This is why there is a token hidden in the cake. But there is another legend that says that whoever finds the token must offer everyone at the table a round, which nowadays means to give them a galette des Rois.<\/p>\n<p>So, play fair, don&#8217;t swallow the f\u00e8ve, make my &#8220;panda king galette&#8221;, and you&#8217;ll amaze your family and friends.
